Born in Marseille, the French pianist Didier Castell-Jacomin began the piano at the age of 4. At about 10 his meeting with Georgy Cziffra at Senlis was determining because the Maestro discovered with him an undeniable talent and encouraged him to continue along this path. After a passage to the conservatory of Rennes and Nice, the young pianist studied with several professors, one of whom was Catherine Collard. But it was especially the work with Fausto Zadra at the international school CIEM Mozart of Lausanne, follower of Vincenzo Scaramuzza, who changed his vision of music and more particularly the piano, radically. In the same spirit, his recent collaboration with Paul Badura-Skoda, ended after a recital in four hands in Maastricht, was a turning point in his career.

The young pianist made his debut at the Philharmonie of Berlin with the soloists of the chamber orchestra of the Philharmonie for a program completely dedicated to Mozart, a cd testifying of this concert. He occurred on the international large halls (Concertgebouw of Amsterdam, Carnegie Hall, Salle Cortot, Philharmonic society of Baden-Baden), in London, Brussels, in Spain and maintained a link favoured with the United States because he played the Cooper Union Great Hall in New York, the Unity Concerts of New Jersey (established by Horowitz), in Minneapolis. He was invited at prestigious festivals as the festival of "New-Jersey"C’est pas Classique in Nice, Les Midis Minimes in Belgium.

In parallel with his activities as concert performer, he is passionate about the chamber music: he is a privileged partner of the quartet Joaquim, of the wind quintet of Paris (with the clarinettist Patrick Messina), of the American quartet "forte strings quartet" managed by the cellist Kalin Ivanov or with Marsyas quartet. He is also interested in the concept text and piano by imagining an original entitled concert "the personal diary of Clara and Robert Schumann", together with Brigitte Fossey and Laurence Malherbe.

Didier Castell-Jacomin possesses a wide discography. Recognized as one of the best interpret of Mozart in our time he records, besides concerti K.414 and K.415 with Berlin strings quartet (Calliope/A-Tempo), a recital Mozart (Calliope/A-Tempo), "Polonia" recital Chopin and "Russian Tenderness" (Cristal Records Classics). His recording "Regards" (Continuo Classics), puts back in honour underestimated works of composers such as Mel Bonis, Clara Schumann, Cecile Chaminade and receives 4 diapasons (diapason Mag.), the price Maestro of the magazine "pianist", 3 stars of free Belgium, 4 stars of Pizzicato. In the year 2016 he will record 2 Sonatas for clarinet and piano of Wańhal, with Geert Baeckelandt, and the quintet op.16 of Beethoven with the wind quartet CATALPA from Belgium, under the label Continuo Classics.

Didier Castell-Jacomin is also art director of various festivals: International Festival of Classical music of Nice from 1995 till 1998 with 14 concerts in 16 days, Festival of Eu in Normandy in 2015.

His next project is a « triptych around the piano » at the National theatre of Maastricht "theater aan het Vrijthof" whose first edition will take place in June, 2016.

In 2018 the pianist will perform and record with the WienerKammerSymphony Quintet at the theatre aan het Vrijthof (Maastricht-NL).
